As Ghana edges closer to securing a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has passionately urged the national team to go all out and defeat the Central African Republic (CAR) in their upcoming qualifier.
With only two matches remaining, the Black Stars currently top their group and stand on the brink of their fifth World Cup appearance. They are set to take on CAR at the Stade d’Honneur de Meknes on Wednesday, with kick-off scheduled for 16:00 GMT. A victory could seal their qualification, depending on outcomes from other fixtures.
Speaking from the team’s camp, Gyan expressed strong faith in the players’ readiness and determination to finish the job.
“We are very close. The players have their destiny in their hands. They have worked hard and must now add the finishing touch. They should go out, play their hearts out, and get the result,” Gyan said confidently.
The legendary striker, who remains Ghana’s all-time top scorer, emphasized the psychological strength required in decisive matches like this one.
“Some games come with pressure that keeps you focused. This is one of those moments. The players must embrace it. Some of them went through similar pressure in 2022, and I believe they can handle it again,” he added.
The Black Stars are expected to leave Casablanca for Meknes today to complete their final preparations before the crucial encounter with CAR. After that, they will return to Accra for their last qualifier against Comoros on October 12 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
As anticipation builds, Gyan’s rallying call has reignited confidence among supporters who believe this team can once again make Ghana proud on the world stage.
