Ghana’s head coach, Otto Addo, has urged the Black Stars to remain humble and focused as they prepare for their final 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Comoros. The game will take place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday at 19:00 GMT.
The four-time African champions need just one point to qualify for next year’s World Cup. Their convincing win over the Central African Republic in the previous game has boosted confidence, but Otto Addo has warned the players not to relax.
At a pre-match press conference, the 49-year-old coach expressed joy about the team’s progress but reminded them of the need for discipline. “To be honest, I don’t really care. This is my life, and as a player too, not everyone believed in me from day one. You have to fight, and I’m happy and blessed to be here,” he said.
He continued, “That’s life — it’s full of ups and downs. Right now, we are up, but that can change quickly. We must stay humble and keep pushing. I’m not focused on the past. I’m looking forward because a big opportunity awaits us.”
The Black Stars are chasing a fifth appearance at the FIFA World Cup. They have played in 2006 (Germany), 2010 (South Africa), 2014 (Brazil), and 2022 (Qatar). A win or draw against Comoros will secure their spot in the global tournament once again.
For Otto Addo, this match is not only about qualification but also about proving that Ghana can return to the top of African football with unity and determination.
