Residents of Abesim in the Bono Region are still in shock after construction workers uncovered strange ritual materials beneath a collapsed church building at Obaah Serwaa Junction near Sunyani. The discovery happened while a new foundation was being dug on the same land that once housed the Eternal Life Church of Nations.

The site had remained abandoned for several years after the old church collapsed. Recently, the landowner gave it to contractors for redevelopment. However, during the excavation, the workers noticed something unusual about a section of the old concrete. It appeared far harder than the rest, which made them curious.

According to one mason, the team decided to break through the tough spot to find out what was inside. “All the concrete was soft except for one place that was extremely hard,” he said. “When we broke it open, we saw salt, a bottle of soda water, and a dead pig buried in the concrete.” The workers believe the pig had been buried alive because of how it was found.

As they continued digging, they also found more strange materials mixed with the concrete. These included salt, charms, and small shrine-like objects. The discovery occurred right at the main entrance of the former church, leading many to suspect that it was part of a ritual or spiritual practice once performed by the church leaders.

Another worker explained that he suspected more items could be hidden elsewhere. “Something told me to check under the pulpit,” he said. “When we removed the concrete there, we discovered small shrines and charms buried beneath it.” Soon after, several residents rushed to the site to see what had been uncovered. Videos of the shocking find quickly spread on social media, drawing crowds and online debates about what truly happened at the church.

The Eternal Life Church of Nations was founded by a female prophetess reportedly from the Volta Region. In the past, she gained fame for performing miracles and healing people. However, after the church building collapsed, the congregation stopped meeting, and the property returned to the owner. Many residents once believed the prophetess was a kind and powerful woman who helped people solve spiritual problems. Now, however, some question the true source of her powers.

“We never expected this,” said one resident. “She healed people and performed miracles, so no one imagined that such things could be buried under the church.” As the news spread, community leaders and residents began calling for answers.

The Abesim police and traditional authorities have started initial investigations. Meanwhile, the unearthed items have been secured for examination. Videos circulating online show workers pulling out objects such as a pig skull, bottles, and other materials believed to be used in rituals. Although some people claim these were “protection charms,” authorities have not confirmed that theory.

Currently, the prophetess who led the church has not been located, and her whereabouts remain unknown. Residents are urging calm and demanding transparency from both the chiefs and the police. Many believe that only a proper investigation can reveal the truth behind the mysterious discovery at Abesim.
