Sarah Adwoa Safo, the former Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, has been referred to the National Disciplinary Committee of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) following her recent media comments concerning internal party matters.
In a statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP indicated that Adwoa Safo’s remarks on JoyNews’ The Pulse violated a directive prohibiting members from discussing internal issues publicly. Party officials considered her statements a potential threat to unity and cohesion.
The NPP had previously cautioned members against making public comments that could cause disaffection within the party. However, the former MP’s actions were deemed to have undermined these efforts.
Given her past roles as a Deputy Majority Leader and Minister of State, the party emphasized that she was expected to uphold principles of discipline, loyalty, and unity. The statement also referenced Article 3(5) of the NPP Constitution, which requires members to protect and defend the party’s reputation.
As a result of these infractions, the party has officially referred Adwoa Safo to its National Disciplinary Committee for further deliberation and possible sanctions.
