In a move to promote African unity and cooperation, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced plans to grant visa-free access to all African nationals traveling to Ghana. This policy is expected to be implemented by the end of 2024.
Speaking at the 2024 African Prosperity Dialogues in Accra, President Akufo-Addo emphasized the need for greater collaboration among African countries to drive economic growth and development. He noted that the current visa acquisition process can be a hindrance to travel and trade among Africans, and therefore, his government has resolved to implement the visa-free policy.
This move is in line with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) initiative, which aims to create a single market for African countries.
By granting visa-free access to all African nationals, Ghana is taking a significant step towards promoting trade, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges among African countries.
The implementation of this policy is expected to have a positive impact on Ghana’s economy and tourism industry, as well as promote greater regional integration and cooperation.
