Asanko Gold Ghana Limited has reaffirmed its dedication to improving infrastructure and social welfare in its operational communities, despite recent clashes around its mining concession in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region.

The company continues to channel resources into projects that strengthen education, healthcare, agriculture, and local infrastructure. These efforts form part of its Social Investment and Community Development Programme, designed to ensure lasting benefits for host communities.

According to Dr. Charles Amoah, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Asanko Gold Ghana, the company’s latest initiative—a newly constructed community centre—symbolizes collaboration and shared progress.

“This project stands as proof of what we can achieve together when communities, traditional leaders, and the private sector align for sustainable development,” Dr. Amoah stated.

The new centre adds to a growing list of completed projects, including the Kwabenaso Primary School, five-unit Asuadai Teachers’ Bungalows, and the 60-bed Esaase Hospital.

As part of its Five-Year Development Plan, the mining firm has also launched the Asanko Scholarship Scheme, which currently supports 15 brilliant but needy students from the Esaase and Obotan areas.

Additionally, a soap-making initiative is underway to empower women and youth with practical livelihood skills. The company has also introduced an Agro Input Support Program to enhance food security and agricultural productivity in local communities.

In Kwankyeabo, Asanko Gold Ghana constructed a modern 10-seater toilet facility to promote sanitation and improve public health.

At the inauguration of the new community centre, Nana Bi-Kusi Appiah II, Paramount Chief of Manso Nkwanta, expressed gratitude to the company for its continuous collaboration with traditional authorities and investment in community welfare.

“We thank Asanko for allowing God to touch their hearts to build this beautiful community centre. It belongs not only to Manso Nkran but to all the Amansie communities,” the Chief said.

He praised Asanko Gold Ghana for practicing responsible mining, noting that its reinvestment of revenue into community projects fosters both peace and progress.

Dr. Amoah concluded that the company’s initiatives align with the Government of Ghana’s vision of ensuring that mining communities experience real and lasting development.

“We continue to invest heavily in infrastructure, human capital, and sustainable programs that directly benefit the people in our operational areas,” he added.
