Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has pledged to adopt the recommendations from the National Economic Dialogue as his guiding framework for the 2025 budget and upcoming economic reforms. Speaking at the dialogue’s closing session, he emphasized that the discussions aligned with his earlier presentation, proving a shared understanding of Ghana’s economic challenges.
He acknowledged that while finding solutions is crucial, implementing them remains the real challenge. According to him, success depends on public support. “We can only implement these recommendations if we get the buy-in of the citizens,” he stressed.
The National Economic Dialogue brought together financial experts, industry leaders, and government officials to discuss economic solutions. Their focus included sustainable debt restructuring, improved revenue mobilization, and local industry investments. Participants urged policymakers to prioritize long-term strategies over short-term fixes.
Dr. Forson assured stakeholders that their contributions would shape the upcoming budget, set for presentation on March 11. “I will use the final communique as my guide in making recommendations to Cabinet for approval,” he stated.
He also emphasized the connection between macroeconomic policies, governance, corruption, and infrastructure. According to him, Ghana already knows its problems and solutions. “Now, we must focus on implementation,” he added.
Economic analysts and civil society groups have welcomed his commitment. They believe following these recommendations will improve Ghana’s financial outlook. However, they also caution against politically motivated decisions that could derail progress.
As Ghana faces economic uncertainty, Dr. Forson remains committed to these reforms. He urged all stakeholders to collaborate to ensure success. The 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy is expected to introduce key reforms that will drive economic recovery and sustainable development.
