Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has expressed his deep sorrow over the death of His Holiness Pope Francis. He praised the late pontiff as a global icon of peace, compassion, and humility.
In his tribute, Dr. Bawumia described Pope Francis as a leader who embraced inclusiveness and lived with strong moral values. He said millions admired the Pope for these qualities.
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis,” Bawumia stated. “He was a man of peace and compassion. His humility and inclusive nature earned global respect.”
Dr. Bawumia also recalled meeting the Pope during a visit to the Vatican last year. He said the Pope left a lasting impression on him.
“He showed a pure and righteous approach to life that truly moved me,” he added.
The Vice President extended his condolences to Catholic communities in Ghana and around the world. He urged people to let the Pope’s legacy inspire them to fulfill their individual missions in life.
“May his legacy inspire us as we continue our journey on earth,” he concluded.
Pope Francis, the first Jesuit pontiff and the first from the Americas, led the Catholic Church with a focus on reform and unity. His call for interfaith cooperation and social justice earned him admiration worldwide.
