The Ghana Football Association (GFA) says government has approved a $1.2 million budget to support the Black Stars in their final 2026 World Cup qualifiers this October.

Sports Minister Kofi Adams, who is also the Member of Parliament for Buem, confirmed the decision on Monday, September 29.

He explained that the money will cover the matches against the Central African Republic (CAR) and Comoros. The breakdown shows $733,000 for the away match in Casablanca on October 8 and $387,000 for the home clash in Accra on October 12.

Speaking on Woezor TV’s Arena, GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum said the Association prepared estimates based on past games.

He noted that the Sports Ministry reviews the figures and approves the final amount.

“The budgets we submit are projections backed by facts and experience,”

Asante Twum said.

“Expenses change with venues, feeding, hotels, training facilities, and travel. Playing in Morocco will not cost the same as playing in Chad.”

The Black Stars will meet CAR at the Stade d’Honneur de Meknes in Morocco on October 8 at 16:00 GMT.

They will then return to face Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on October 12 at 19:00 GMT.Winning both fixtures will guarantee Ghana a place in the FIFA World Cup for the fifth time.
