The Bono Regional Police Command has interdicted several officers after a police bribery video surfaced on social media, allegedly showing them collecting money from motorists.

According to a statement signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, the officers involved have been identified and removed from active duty. This action aims to ensure a transparent and unbiased investigation into the alleged misconduct.

The viral video, which has triggered public outrage, appears to show uniformed officers receiving cash from drivers at what seems to be a roadside checkpoint. Although the exact time and location remain unconfirmed, police authorities say they are working to authenticate the footage and verify the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Officials emphasized that the interdiction aligns with the Ghana Police Service’s ongoing reform efforts to promote accountability and strengthen public trust. The Service reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on corruption and assured the public that appropriate disciplinary measures will follow once the investigation concludes.

The police bribery video has renewed discussions about law enforcement ethics and the importance of transparency in Ghana’s policing system.
