Ghanaian artiste manager Lawrence Nana Asiama Hanson, popularly known as Bullgod, has admitted that his years of managing Shatta Wale nearly cost him important connections in the entertainment industry.

In an interview on Prime Time with George Quaye on JoyPrime, Bullgod described the controversial dancehall musician as one of the most difficult artistes he has ever worked with.

According to him, Shatta Wale’s unpredictable nature and disregard for agreements often created tension.

“He insulted my boss at Charterhouse, and I was working with them at the time. That nearly cost me a lot. I got a lot of enemies just managing Shatta Wale,” Bullgod disclosed.

He explained that moments like these put him in uncomfortable positions where he had to choose between loyalty to his artiste and respect for his professional partners.

“Managing him felt like a test. I hope I passed,” he added.Bullgod also recalled how Wale frequently backed out of commitments at the last minute.

“You can have an agreement with him, and the next morning he will refuse to go for the engagement,” he said.

Highlighting an incident at the Ghana Music Awards, Bullgod revealed that Shatta Wale agreed to perform only one song but went against the arrangement on stage.

He further mentioned the artiste’s fiery media engagements, noting how issues would spread from one platform to another.

“He went on Joy FM, had issues there, and before it could end, he continued on YFM,” he said.

Despite these challenges, Bullgod maintained that his time managing Shatta Wale was not wasted. He pointed to key successes, including Wale’s return to the Ghana Music Awards after years of absence, where he earned nominations and eventually won.“Shatta is a good musician, no doubt.

He understands the music, he knows how to connect with the streets, and he has built a strong following.

Whether people like him or not, Shatta is the dancehall king of Ghana,” Bullgod declared. He concluded with advice to creatives, encouraging them not to see award losses as failure.

“Not winning doesn’t mean someone has won over you. Sometimes, the most difficult experiences are the ones that teach you the most,” he said.
