Accra, Ghana – The Ghanaian cedi recorded a slight gain against the US dollar on Wednesday, March 6, 2025. The Bank of Ghana (BoG) set the buying rate at GHS 15.5122 and the selling rate at GHS 15.5278. This movement reflects the central bank’s continued efforts to stabilize the currency.

Compared to the previous day’s rate, where the cedi bought at GHS 15.5222 and sold at GHS 15.5378, the local currency appreciated slightly. Analysts believe this shift results from BoG’s monetary policies, forex interventions, and support for key sectors. Despite external pressures, the central bank remains committed to reducing exchange rate volatility.

Global inflation, trade imbalances, and debt servicing continue to influence the foreign exchange market. However, the Bank of Ghana has assured businesses and investors of ongoing measures to strengthen the cedi. In a recent statement, the central bank highlighted its efforts to curb speculation and increase liquidity.

Importers, exporters, and consumers closely monitor exchange rate movements. A stronger cedi can lower import costs, while a weaker one raises expenses for businesses. The Bank of Ghana is expected to continue implementing strategies that support economic stability.
