Traditional leaders in Nkwanta North District have taken bold steps to demand better development for their communities. Ubor Konja Tassan VI led a delegation of chiefs to meet Oti Regional Minister John Kwadwo Gyapong.

The visit allowed the chiefs to introduce themselves and share major concerns in their communities. They called for urgent government support to ensure sustainable Nkwanta North development.

Ubor Konja Tassan praised President John Dramani Mahama for his leadership and ongoing development efforts. He also highlighted several urgent challenges facing the district.

Top among these was poor road infrastructure. He explained that the roads have become a serious barrier to trade and basic services. The Nkwanta-Damanko stretch, he said, turns into a “swimming pool” during the rainy season and becomes dusty during the dry season. These conditions lead to health problems like respiratory issues.

The chief urged the government to complete road projects to improve access, boost trade, and attract investors. He said better roads would transform the local economy.

Healthcare was another key concern. The chief raised alarm over the stalled Agenda 111 hospital project. He urged the minister to push for quick progress to improve healthcare delivery in the district.

Water supply issues also came up during the discussion. Ubor Konja Tassan called for long-term solutions to fix the ongoing shortages. He stressed that clean water is vital for public health and community growth.

The chief also spoke about electricity problems. He described how frequent blackouts and low voltage continue to affect businesses and daily life.

Minister John Kwadwo Gyapong welcomed the concerns. He assured the chiefs of the government’s commitment to addressing the issues. He also stressed the need for strong cooperation between traditional leaders and government officials.

He encouraged the chiefs to continue working with the government to support Nkwanta North development.
