Ghana has been hit again with the outbreak of cholera. The last outbreak occurred in 2014-2015 where it was recorded that about 243 people died and 28,922 were affected by it. This information is based on the report from UNICEF, which stated that the incident was so devastating.

Additionally, the WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION -WHO also reported that in 2015, a cumulative total of 618 cases with 6 deaths which was reported on the 14 June 2015.

It worth noting that there was a significant outbreak in 2014 where 6018 cases including 47 deaths was reported from 34 districts in five regions of Ghana.

At the later part of October, an episode of cholera outbreak hit the country Ghana again as statistics shows that there have been 5 deaths and 30 people receiving treatment. The area of incidence is the Greater Accra Region of the country, it also serves as the capital Town of the country.

According to the Municipal Chief Executive for Awutu Senya ANITA LOVE OBO AMISSAH, three victims died on Thursday and two died on Friday afternoon.

The minister expressed concern on the spread of the disease calling on the people within the affected areas to ensure a clean environment and eat healthy. The minister explained that they had referrals from other constituencies such as Awutu Senya West and Gomoa East Districts for a collaborative approach in dealing with the issue.

Five people confirmed dead after the outbreak. The current Mother and Child Hospital and the Kasoa Polyclinic are the two-hospital managing the case for us.

With this all Ghanaians are called to eat healthy and ensure clean environment to fight against cholera.
