Accra, Ghana – May 14, 2025 – South Dayi MP, Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor, has filed a defamation lawsuit against Assin South MP, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour. The suit stems from a bribery accusation made in a social media post on May 8, 2025.
Rev. Fordjour’s post on “X” (formerly Twitter) claimed that Dafeamekpor, as Vice Chairman of Parliament’s Subsidiary Legislation Committee, must explain certain alleged payments. He also alleged that the NDC had received benefits from those funds while in opposition.
Dafeamekpor has denied all allegations. He clarified that he was not on the committee in December 2023, when the incident supposedly occurred. He called the statements “false, malicious, and reckless.”
He filed the case at the High Court, seeking several remedies:
A declaration that the statements are defamatory
An injunction to prevent further publication
General, aggravated, and punitive damages
Legal costs and additional relief from the court
Dafeamekpor, also Majority Chief Whip, argues that the post severely damaged his reputation and credibility. He stated that the false claims were meant to mislead the public and tarnish his image.
