South Dayi MP Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor has filed a defamation lawsuit against Assin South MP Reverend John Ntim Fordjour. He claims a social media post from Rev. Fordjour has seriously damaged his reputation and political standing.

The lawsuit stems from a May 8, 2025, post on X (formerly Twitter). In it, Rev. Fordjour accused Dafeamekpor, who serves as vice chairman of Parliament’s Subsidiary Legislation Committee, of involvement in questionable payments. He also alleged that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) benefited financially while out of power.

Mr. Dafeamekpor argues the post was intended to discredit him and cause public mistrust. He said the statement triggered ridicule, economic loss, and long-term reputational harm.

He is seeking damages of over GH₵30 million, along with a retraction and public apology. He wants these published both in print and on social media.

The MP also demands aggravated, punitive, and compensatory damages. His suit includes a request for legal fees and any additional relief the court may grant.

This legal action highlights the growing tensions between opposing MPs and the increasing impact of social media on political careers.
