Accra, Ghana – In a passionate and candid address to the nation, President-elect John Mahama has vowed to rescue Ghana from the depths of economic and social crisis, which he described as an “abyss”.
Mahama, who won the 2024 presidential election with a decisive mandate, acknowledged the enormity of the challenges facing the country. He warned Ghanaians that the journey to recovery and prosperity would be difficult, requiring sacrifice, hard work, and unity.
“We stand at the edge of an abyss, staring into the depths of economic despair, social inequality, and environmental degradation,” Mahama said. “But I say to you, my fellow Ghanaians, that we will not be intimidated by the magnitude of these challenges. We will confront them head-on, with courage, determination, and a commitment to the values of justice, equality, and freedom.
“Mahama outlined his vision for a new Ghana, built on the principles of inclusive growth, social justice, and environmental sustainability. He promised to tackle the country’s economic woes, create jobs, improve healthcare and education, and restore the nation’s infrastructure.
While acknowledging the difficulties ahead, Mahama expressed confidence in the resilience and determination of the Ghanaian people. He called on all citizens to join hands in the effort to rebuild and revitalize the nation.
“We will not achieve this transformation overnight, but we will work tirelessly, day and night, to create a brighter future for ourselves, our children, and our grandchildren,” Mahama said. “Let us march forward together, with hope in our hearts and the conviction that a better Ghana is possible.”
