The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has announced plans to conduct regular media briefings on election day, Saturday, December 7, to keep the public updated on election-related events.
In a statement issued on December 4, Samuel Tettey, the EC’s Deputy Chairman for Operations, outlined the briefing schedule, with the first press conference beginning at 7:00 AM, followed by updates at 12:00 PM, 3:00 PM, 9:00 PM, and subsequent sessions until the election results are declared.
The EC emphasized that each session will last no more than 30 minutes. Only accredited media personnel at the National Collation Centre will be permitted to cover the briefings.
The EC stated that the briefings aim to:
- Provide timely updates on election day developments.
- Address any reports or rumors circulating about the elections.
- Ensure accurate information is shared with the public to prevent the spread of unverified news.
Reiterating its dedication to fair and transparent elections, the EC encouraged the public and media to verify all election-related stories through official channels.
“The Commission remains committed to delivering fair, transparent, credible, and peaceful elections and looks forward to collaborating with the media to bring the process to citizens’ doorsteps,” the statement concluded.
