Minister for Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu has urged Ghanaians to rally behind Black Stars coach Otto Addo, warning that sacking him before the 2026 FIFA World Cup would be a serious mistake.

His comments follow growing public debate over Addo’s future. Some football fans and analysts have called for changes within the national team’s technical setup to boost Ghana’s performance on the global stage.

Speaking on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV, Felix Kwakye Ofosu praised Addo’s leadership, saying Ghana’s successful World Cup qualification proves his tactical ability and resilience.

“It would be a huge mistake to think that the current challenges should lead to a coaching change,” he said. “We should focus on supporting the coach and the technical team, not undermining them at this crucial time.”

He noted that Ghana’s qualification—achieved in a tough campaign—should be celebrated rather than criticized.

“Otto Addo has shown resilience and tactical maturity. At this point, what the team needs is continuity and collective support from all Ghanaians,” he added.

Otto Addo guided Ghana through a challenging qualification series to secure the country’s fifth World Cup appearance. The Black Stars will learn their group-stage opponents when the 2026 World Cup draw takes place on December 5.
