Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has strongly denied allegations that he sanctioned a $1.7 million single-source procurement contract. Dismissing the claims as unfounded, he urged the public to disregard such misinformation.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, 22nd March, Dr. Forson described the accusations as “baseless and misleading,” emphasizing his dedication to transparency and prudent economic governance. He reaffirmed that, since taking office, he has not authorized any procurement contracts.
“My attention has been drawn to yet another baseless and misleading claim circulating about an alleged $1.7 million single-source procurement contract approved by me,” he stated.
“This claim is completely false and should be disregarded. Let me state clearly and categorically: I have not approved any procurements since I took office as Minister. My focus remains on ensuring transparency, accountability, and responsible economic management in the best interest of Ghana.”
Additionally, the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) has released a statement clarifying that no such contract has been approved.
Dr. Forson reassured the public of his firm commitment to upholding ethical standards in Ghana’s economic management. He reiterated that his priority remains fostering fiscal responsibility and ensuring adherence to due process in all financial transactions.
