Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has promised to lead a policy that limits the import of goods Ghana can produce. This move aims to boost local manufacturing, create jobs, and protect local industries.
He shared this during a meeting with the Plastic Manufacturers Association, who highlighted challenges facing their sector.
The Association asked for a fairer tax system to avoid overburdening certain businesses. They also pointed out problems with exports, abuse of import exemptions, and the dumping of low-quality imports.
Dr. Forson also said he will work with the Ghana Revenue Authority to stop revenue leakages at the ports.
