A domestic flight operated by Passion Air returned to Accra shortly after takeoff due to a mid-air fuel shortage, causing panic and confusion among passengers.

The aircraft departed Kotoka International Airport at 6:20 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, heading for Takoradi. Just 15 minutes into the flight, the plane turned back without any explanation from the crew.

One passenger described the experience as shocking. He said the crew offered no reason until the plane landed.

“When we landed, they told us the plane didn’t have enough fuel to reach Takoradi,” the passenger said. “A whole commercial flight with insufficient fuel? We were told nothing until we touched down again.”

The incident sparked alarm on social media. Many questioned how an aircraft could begin its journey without enough fuel.

The reported mid-air fuel shortage raised serious doubts about the airline’s pre-flight checks and safety measures.

As of now, Passion Air has not released any statement to explain what happened or to confirm the fuel shortage.
