The Board Chairman of the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC), Gabriel Kumi, has announced that Ghanaians should expect a reduction in fuel prices this Christmas, driven by declining global petroleum product prices.
Speaking on PM Express Business Edition, Mr. Kumi said key indicators already point to clear reductions across petrol, diesel, and LPG, with consumers likely to feel the relief from mid-December.
“Fortunately, Ghanaians are going to have a very good Christmas in terms of petroleum prices, because already the indication is that the price of finished petroleum products is going down,” he said.
According to him, diesel prices have dropped by about 10%, while petrol has seen a 6% decline. LPG prices, he added, have also decreased by 1% to 1.5%.
However, Mr. Kumi stressed that the extent of relief will depend on the stability of the Ghana cedi.
“If the cedi is held in check, then we can be sure that on the 16th of December, prices of petroleum products will generally go down,” he noted.

He further explained that the expected drop in prices should carry consumers through the Christmas season, as the second pricing window—which covers the festive period—may bring additional reductions.
Overall, Mr. Kumi said Ghana is “likely to see some decrease in the price of petroleum products,” offering welcome relief for households and businesses during the holidays.
