The Ashanti Region Anti-Galamsey Taskforce staged a dawn raid in the Adansi enclave, seizing 13 excavators and arresting several individuals involved in illegal mining activities.

Captain (Rtd) John Kwame Jabari, leader of the taskforce, described the mission as their most successful operation since the anti-galamsey campaign began. He confirmed that the team seized all the targeted excavators and captured the suspects during the mission.

“At almost every site we visited, we secured the machines and apprehended those engaged in illegal mining,” Captain Jabari said.

The taskforce credited its success to a refined operational strategy. Captain Jabari explained that after multiple adjustments, they had perfected their method. “We changed our tactics many times, but now we have perfected them,” he added.

The new phase of operations aims to clear waterways and protect cocoa farms from further destruction. The team has already reclaimed parts of forest reserves that illegal miners had damaged.

Adansi remains one of the hardest-hit areas, with vast lands suffering from illegal mining activities.

Captain Jabari revealed that residents often provide intelligence for their operations. “Most of our information comes from locals who report illegal activities,” he said.

He issued a warning to illegal miners, urging them to stop immediately or face the full force of the law. The taskforce, he said, remains committed to restoring degraded lands and protecting the environment.
