From Monday, 6 October 2025, the National Identification Authority (NIA) will start distributing Ghana Cards to children aged 6 to 14, the authority has confirmed. The initial phase targets children who have already completed registration, and will take place in 56 districts.
Cards will be delivered at the same schools where registration was originally conducted. Parents or guardians must present the registration receipt—Form A—that was issued during the initial registration process.
The NIA has also stated that all pending backlogs in Ghana Card printing have been cleared, allowing for a smooth launch of this child card issuance programme. Districts not included in the first phase will receive the cards in the coming days.
For children who are not yet registered, the NIA says it will soon publish new registration dates. The authority appeals to all parents and guardians to cooperate fully with officials to help ensure the exercise runs efficiently across the country.
