The Ghana Health Service has provided an update on the cholera outbreak recorded across parts of the country It disclosed in a public health advisory that over 4000 cases have been recorded, leading to 35 deaths.It appealed to the general public to adhere to the guidelines regarding the prevention of cholera
According to the GHS, the cholera cases were first reported on October 4, 2024, after a patient presented symptoms of vomiting and abdominal pain following a funeral in the district. Since then, the situation has escalated, resulting in the unfortunate loss of lives.
The GHS has urged citizens to take precautions to prevent the spread of the disease, emphasizing the importance of proper hygiene, safe water handling, and prompt medical attention for suspected cases.
As the situation continues to unfold, the GHS is working closely with local authorities and health partners to contain the outbreak and provide support to affected communities.
