Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has announced that the 2025 Budget includes a GHC100 million monthly allowance for Assembly Members to enhance local governance and development.
Dr. Forson stated that this initiative aims to empower legislators, ensuring they can effectively engage with their communities and oversee local projects. The government expects this move to boost transparency, accountability, and efficiency in local administration.
Additionally, the Finance Minister highlighted the government’s response to the recent tidal waves disaster that displaced residents of Agavedzi and nearby areas in the Ketu South constituency.
“In response to the recent tidal waves disaster that displaced residents of Agavedzi and surrounding communities in the Ketu South constituency, we have also allocated enough resources to the Ministry of Works and Housing to address the challenge,” Dr. Forson announced.
He assured that the government remains committed to supporting affected communities while strengthening local governance structures.
