The future of Black Stars coach Otto Addo remains under review, with Sports Minister Kofi Adams stating that the government will make a decision at the appropriate time regarding his role with the national team.

Otto Addo, formerly a Borussia Dortmund talent coach, has faced mixed public reactions following Ghana’s fluctuating performances in the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The pressure mounted after Ghana’s 1–1 draw with Chad on Matchday 7 during the September international window, which sparked widespread criticism from fans and football pundits. However, Addo’s men regained momentum with a 1–0 victory over Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium in the subsequent Matchday 8 clash.

On Wednesday, October 8, Addo guided the Black Stars to a convincing 5–0 win over the Central African Republic at the Stade d’Honneur in Morocco, a result that helped calm tensions and restore confidence in the team’s direction.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Kofi Adams addressed the ongoing debate over the coach’s future, emphasizing that the government will take into account the opinions of Ghanaians before making any decision.

“We indicated that at the right time, we will look at the concerns of Ghanaians, and that time will come. We have divided opinions at the moment, but we have been given the power to manage and rule the country, and at the end of the day, we will make the right decision on Otto Addo,” Mr. Adams explained.

The emphatic victory over the Central African Republic keeps Ghana at the top of Group I with 22 points. The Black Stars will conclude their World Cup qualifying campaign on Sunday, October 12, when they host Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 19:00 GMT.
