Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson announced that the government will implement the Public Sector Partnership (PSP) to enhance efficiency at the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo). The initiative aims to improve energy service delivery and operational performance across the power sector.

Dr. Forson explained that the PSP will enable these state-owned enterprises to adopt innovative practices, streamline processes, and reduce operational costs. “We plan to work closely with ECG and NEDCo to introduce best practices and boost efficiency. Our goal is to provide reliable, affordable electricity to every household,” he stated during his budget presentation in Parliament.

The PSP initiative will focus on upgrading technology, improving workforce training, and optimizing resource allocation. By partnering with the private sector, the government expects to modernize infrastructure and accelerate project execution. These measures are part of a broader effort to address past inefficiencies and meet the growing energy demand across Ghana.

Analysts say that improved efficiency in ECG and NEDCo could lead to a more stable electricity supply and foster economic growth. Stakeholders believe that these reforms will also attract further investments in the energy sector, ultimately benefiting consumers and boosting investor confidence.
