Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has inspired Ghana’s teachers and young people to remain committed to discipline, integrity, and hard work — values he described as the foundation for national transformation.
Addressing the audience at the 2025 Ghana Teacher Prize ceremony in Accra, held under the theme “Elevating the Status of Teachers for Quality Education,” the Minister emphasized that Ghana’s future depends on the moral strength and professional excellence of its citizens.
“Teachers and parents observe your attitude and character. The future belongs to you — but only if you stay disciplined, work hard, and maintain integrity,” he stated passionately.
Haruna Iddrisu commended the country’s more than 349,000 teachers for their relentless service in nurturing the next generation, despite facing several challenges in their line of duty.
He reaffirmed government’s dedication to improving teacher welfare through the Teachers’ Diplomatic Initiative, which seeks to provide modern three-bedroom housing units for teachers across all regions.
The Minister also announced a major educational development — the establishment of a new campus of a public university in Keta, to be named the School of Public Affairs. The institution will focus on leadership, governance, and policy training to strengthen public sector capacity.
“Education remains the cornerstone of Ghana’s transformation,” he added. “When we invest in teachers, we invest in our nation’s future.”
In closing, Haruna Iddrisu invited Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang to deliver the keynote address, describing her as “a symbol of knowledge, humility, and leadership.”
The Haruna Iddrisu Speech underscored the government’s renewed commitment to education, teacher empowerment, and moral development as drivers of Ghana’s sustainable growth.
