In a major shakeup, Inspector General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno has reassigned 84 senior officers across Ghana. He moved some officers from the Police Headquarters to outstations and vice versa. Notably, Superintendent Emmanuel Eric Gyebi now serves at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters, while Superintendent George Lysander Asare has joined the Judicial Protection Unit.

These two officers were recently implicated in a leaked tape saga that exposed a plot to remove former Inspector-General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare. Consequently, they answered before a parliamentary committee on issues concerning their professionalism and adherence to Ghana Police Service regulations. The committee recommended disciplinary action.

Some sources within the Police Service told Myjoyonline that these postings might be seen as promotions. They argue that the moves tacitly approve the alleged misconduct and could set a troubling precedent.
