Abuja, Nigeria – Julius Berger Plc has committed to exceeding expectations in building Nigeria’s new Armed Forces headquarters in Asokoro, Abuja. The flag-off ceremony on January 25, 2025, featured Peer Lubasch, the Managing Director of Julius Berger, who expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in the company.
The complex will cover over 100,000 square meters and accommodate around 3,000 personnel. It will feature offices, meeting rooms, operational centers, libraries, gyms, and canteens. Additionally, a large conference hall with a capacity of 1,500 will enhance military operations and foster collaboration across the branches.
Lubasch highlighted Julius Berger’s 60 years of experience in delivering important infrastructure projects in Nigeria. He assured everyone that the company would exceed expectations with this facility. He views the new complex as a symbol of national pride and strength. His confidence assures the public that the project will meet the highest standards.
President Bola Tinubu approved the project and urged Julius Berger to begin the first phase immediately. He emphasized the need to complete the complex before the end of his administration. Tinubu also praised the military for initiating the project and highlighted its significance for improving Nigeria’s security.
General Christopher Gwabin Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, explained that the current headquarters in Garki is outdated and no longer meets operational needs. The new complex will address these issues and provide the necessary security features to support military functions.
The ceremony attracted several dignitaries, including the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, and the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris Malagi. Top military officials and heads of security agencies also attended. Julius Berger’s senior leadership, including Abdulaziz Kaita and Oliver Berger, participated in the event.
The project will strengthen Nigeria’s defense infrastructure. Julius Berger’s dedication ensures the new Armed Forces Complex will improve the military’s ability to protect the nation and enhance overall security.
