Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has been removed from the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) wanted persons list. This decision comes after Ofori-Atta’s lawyers confirmed that he plans to return to Ghana in May 2025.
Ofori-Atta had been declared wanted by the OSP in connection with multiple corruption cases, including the SML scandal, National Cathedral scandal, and the Ambulance Rehabilitation scandal. However, his removal from the list indicates that the OSP is expecting his cooperation with the ongoing investigation upon his return to Ghana.
The OSP’s Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, had previously warned Ofori-Atta that failure to return to Ghana would result in the authority taking “all necessary legal steps” to secure his return. With Ofori-Atta’s planned return, the investigation into the corruption allegations against him is expected to proceed.
