Former Ghanaian Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta’s home in Cantonments, Accra, was reportedly raided by a group of individuals in police and military uniforms on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. The incident occurred while Ofori-Atta was out of the country, but some family members, including his wife, were present at the time.

According to eyewitnesses, around 12 individuals, consisting of five in military uniforms, one in a police uniform, and the rest in plain clothes, forced their way into the house. The motive behind the raid remains unclear, and it is yet to be determined whether anything was taken.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has denied any involvement in the raid, with Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng dismissing the reports as false. Agyebeng suggested that the incident may have been staged to create discontent against the OSP.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety and security of former government officials and their families. Dr. Palgrave Boakye Danquah, a former spokesperson for the Akufo-Addo government, questioned who sanctioned the raid and expressed concerns about the potential erosion of democracy in Ghana.
