Kennedy Agyapong outburst stirred tension at Berekum in the Bono Region on Monday, April 28. The former Assin Central MP reacted strongly during the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) thank-you tour led by their 2024 Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The disruption began after NPP Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe Abronye, addressed party members. He questioned the unity calls from individuals who, in the past, had divided the party with harmful remarks. Abronye agreed with Dr. Bawumia’s point that the NDC used such internal conflicts during the election campaign.

He urged the party to enforce discipline and rejected Agyapong’s call to pardon suspended or former members.

Agyapong quickly took the microphone and responded with anger. Without naming anyone, he issued a direct warning. He claimed no one could intimidate him.

“Some people talk as if they own the party, but they don’t. If we are seeking real men in the party, they don’t measure up. Their financial contribution is minimal.

They go around begging, yet they have the audacity to talk. Even you poor people want to speak your mind—how much more rich men like us? Who born dog!?” he exclaimed.

Many in the crowd murmured in disapproval. What began as a gratitude event soon turned into a moment of division for the NPP.
