Afrobeats and R&B artiste KiDi has declared that Ghana does not have a functioning music industry.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz with Doreen Avio and Kwame Dadzie, the “Touch It” hitmaker said the absence of proper systems continues to hold back musicians.
According to him, artistes rely only on personal effort because there are no structures to support their careers.
“Every musician in Ghana has to fend for themselves and push through with individual resources because there is no industry structure,”
he explained.
KiDi highlighted poor royalty collection and weak institutional support as major setbacks. He also noted that the lack of an organized system discourages investors from entering the sector.
He added that the struggling music space often blames artistes unfairly, even though the ecosystem itself has failed to function as a proper industry.
