The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has announced that part of the 161 kV Aboadze–Tarkwa transmission line operated by the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) has been damaged, causing potential temporary power supply disruptions in sections of the Western and Ashanti Regions.

In a statement released in Accra, the Ministry said a maintenance team had been sent to the affected area to start urgent repair works.

“The maintenance team has been swiftly deployed and is currently on-site, working diligently to restore the line as quickly as possible,” the statement noted.

The Ministry added that technical assessments are underway to determine the full extent of the damage and to restore transmission capacity within the shortest possible time.

Preliminary findings indicate that Kumasi and Tarkwa are among the areas that may experience temporary power outages during the repair process.

“The analysis highlights the likelihood of supply disruptions in parts of the Western and Ashanti Regions, specifically Kumasi and Tarkwa,” the Ministry explained.

The Ministry assured the public that every effort is being made to complete the repairs swiftly and minimize the impact on electricity users in the affected areas.
