The Ashanti Regional Police Command is hunting Martin Amoah. He also goes by Augustine Amoah and the alias “Baba Macho.” Authorities suspect he robbed and killed a mobile money vendor in Kumasi. Moreover, they believe he hides in Kumasi, Dunkwa-on-Offin, Accra, or the Central Region.
Police arrested three suspects in connection with these crimes. They also linked these arrests to two other MoMo vendor murders. In the past two months, three MoMo vendors died in separate incidents. Furthermore, police noted that firearms played a role in two of the killings.
On Thursday, February 13, 2025, Patricia Nimako faced robbery and death at her Krofrom MoMo shop. Then, on the night of Monday, March 10, Gideon Owusu Sarpong—also known as “Junior”—died at his Kwadaso residence.
Police identified the arrested suspects as Charles Kwame Danso (23), also known as “Kwame Charles” or “Miami”; Philip Foujour (29); and Samuel Audae Mensah (42). They made the arrests on March 21, 2025, in Pankrono and Atimatim.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe now urges the public to help find Martin Amoah. He requested that anyone with information call the toll-free numbers 191 or 112 (18555 MTN and Telecel). Additionally, the police promise to protect the public and mobile money businesses.
Furthermore, the police commander said, “We remain committed to ensuring justice is served. We urge the public to remain vigilant to help us bring all responsible individuals to justice.” The suspects now face court proceedings.
In addition, the Ashanti Regional Security Council announced extra measures. They plan to boost police visibility, arrest unregistered motorbikes, offer safety training for MoMo vendors, and crack down on illicit arms and ammunition.
