President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Dr. Paa Kwesi Badoo as the new Chief Executive Officer of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi. His appointment takes effect from April 30, 2025.
The presidency announced the nomination on April 30. The statement included Dr. Badoo’s curriculum vitae to support the selection.
Officials must now complete the formal processes, following the Ghana Health Service and Teaching Hospitals Act, 1996 (Act 525), as amended.
Dr. Badoo brings years of experience in medical practice and administration. He is expected to lead one of Ghana’s top teaching hospitals with renewed focus and direction.
President Mahama extended his best wishes to Dr. Badoo as he steps into the role.
This change in leadership follows the exit of Prof. Otchere Addai-Mensah. He was relieved of his duties on May 2, 2025, after a meeting with Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh.
The minister thanked Prof. Addai-Mensah for his service and commitment to improving the hospital.
Dr. Badoo’s appointment is part of the government’s effort to strengthen healthcare leadership and performance at KATH.
