Former President John Mahama has renewed his strong call for inclusive education in Ghana, emphasizing that no citizen should be denied learning or opportunity due to disability.
Speaking at the launch of the Free Tertiary Education for Persons with Disabilities initiative, Mahama highlighted the urgent need to remove social and economic barriers that prevent persons with disabilities from achieving their full potential.
He described the exclusion of individuals from education and employment because of disability as a deep national concern, not just a personal tragedy. According to him, inclusion must be seen as a vital driver of Ghana’s social and economic development.
“When we exclude, we waste talent, but when we include and empower, we multiply national progress,” Mahama stated. “Our duty is to make sure no Ghanaian is denied the chance to learn, work, or serve because of disability.”
He further urged all stakeholders—government agencies, educators, and the private sector—to support initiatives that promote inclusive education in Ghana, ensuring every citizen contributes to national growth.
