A new era begins for Ghana’s local governance as President John Mahama endorses Michael Harry Yamson as the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) administrator. Mahama praised Yamson for his proven record in institutional reform and financial management, confident that his skills will strengthen the DACF and boost Ghana’s decentralisation efforts.
During the swearing-in ceremony, President Mahama stated, “I’m confident that you will bring your extensive experience in institutional reform and financial management to strengthen the DACF’s operation and position the fund as a key pillar of Ghana’s decentralisation agenda.” He stressed that effective fund management and the timely disbursement of resources are essential for successful local governance.
Parliament approved Yamson’s appointment on March 21 after the Appointments Committee unanimously recommended him for his competence and expertise. The DACF, established by the Government of Ghana, supports district assemblies by funding public goods, services, and development plans.
