President John Mahama announced a new programme to address environmental problems in the Bono Region. He named it the “Green Bono Agenda.” The plan aims to fight deforestation, reduce water scarcity, and stop land degradation.
At a durbar with chiefs and residents at Sunyani Jubilee Park, during his ‘Thank You Tour,’ Mahama explained the programme will focus on planting trees, protecting water sources, and promoting climate-resilient agriculture.
He said these actions will restore damaged forests and polluted water bodies. The government will also invest in small-town water systems to improve access to clean drinking water.
Mahama promised his administration will prioritize sustainable practices. The Bono Regional Coordinating Council will involve local communities as partners to ensure the programme’s success.
