The Ministry of the Interior has announced that Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, will be public holidays in Ghana to mark this year’s Eid-Ul-Fitr celebration. This announcement was made in a press release signed by the Minister of the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, on Saturday, March 22, 2025.

Eid-Ul-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, will be observed on either Sunday, March 30, or Monday, March 31, 2025. However, since March 30 falls on a Sunday, the President of Ghana has declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, as additional public holidays to allow citizens to celebrate the occasion.

This declaration is in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601), which gives the President the authority to declare public holidays and commemorative days.

The Eid-Ul-Fitr celebration is a significant event in the Islamic calendar, marked by prayers, gratitude, charity, and festive meals. The government’s decision to declare public holidays will allow Muslims and the general public to observe the occasion in peace and tranquility.
