A raging fire has destroyed multiple shops in Kumasi’s central business district, specifically at the well-known Blue Light arena near Hello FM. The blaze, which broke out around 6 a.m., quickly spread, leaving traders scrambling to salvage their goods.

Eyewitnesses reported that the fire ignited due to a malfunctioning electricity pole, sparking flames on the top floor of one of the affected buildings. Most of the businesses housed in the two-story structures dealt in mobile phones, accessories, jewellery, and clothing.

As the inferno intensified, panicked shop owners forcefully entered their stores to retrieve merchandise before it was consumed by the flames. Meanwhile, fire officers struggled to bring the situation under control.

Nana Ama Ataffuah Quainoo, Programmes Director at Hello FM, confirmed that the station’s staff had to be evacuated due to the rapid spread of the fire. However, she expressed concerns over the delayed response of the Fire Service.S
