MINISTER FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS, HON. SAMUEL OKUDZETO ABLAKWA CELEBRATES THREE GHANAIANS ELECTED TO POSITIONS AT THE AFRICAN UNION COMMISSION

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa held a breakfast meeting on Friday, 28th February 2025 with the management and staff of the Ministry to celebrate three distinguished Ghanaian diplomats who have been elected to various positions at the African Union Commission (AUC). In attendance was the Head of the Civil Service, Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh.

The celebrants were, Ambassador Amma Adomaa Twum-Amoah, Africa Union Commissioner for Health, Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, Ambassador Jane Gasu Aheto, Member of the African Union Commission on International Law, and Hon. Edem Kwami Senanu, Member of The African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption.

In his welcome address, the Chief Director, Ambassador Ramses Cleland, expressed appreciation to the Minister for Foreign Affairs for the initiative and congratulated the seasoned diplomats for raising the flag of Ghana high. He used the opportunity to encourage all Foreign Service officials, especially women, to aspire to higher opportunities.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa congratulated the officials on their appointments and recalled the contributions of the current and former Presidents of the Republic, H.E. John Dramani Mahama and H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo respectively.

He also acknowledged the efforts of his predecessor, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, the Chief Director, Ambassador Ramses Cleland and the staff of the Ministry while urging the staff to actively seek international positions, assuring them of his full support in their pursuit.

Ambassador Amma Twum-Amoah, responding on behalf of her colleagues expressed gratitude to the President, H. E. John Dramani Mahama, former President Nana Addo Akufo-Addo, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the former Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, the Chief Director, Ambassador Ramses Cleland and colleagues at the Ministry for their support. She assured them that they would serve Africa diligently for the interest of the Continent and raise the flag of Ghana high.

The Head of the Civil Service, Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh in a brief address, emphasized the vitality of the Civil Service to building the nation and encouraged all Civil Servants to put in their best in the performance of their duties.
