The Bono East branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by Chairman Mr. Unas Owusu, popularly known as “Unasco,” has hinted at prosecuting Rev. Kusi Boateng, also known as Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, if the NDC forms the government in 2025. They accuse him of alleged financial misconduct involving the National Cathedral project.

The NDC is also urging Rev. Kusi Boateng to stop criticizing former President John Dramani Mahama, the NDC’s presidential candidate for the 2024 elections. They warn him to focus on his own actions, which could lead to imprisonment.

During a press conference in Techiman, NDC’s Bono East Regional Communications Officer, Mr. Suleman Mohammed-Mustapha, criticized Rev. Boateng for his recent visit to the region. He accused Rev. Boateng of spreading lies about John Mahama, claiming he is not a good Christian and unworthy of votes. Mr. Mohammed-Mustapha called this an attempt to manipulate people’s religious beliefs for political gain.

The NDC’s 2024 manifesto, titled “Resetting Ghana,” promises to investigate corruption, including the $58 million National Cathedral scandal. Mr. Mohammed-Mustapha reminded Rev. Boateng of potential jail time if found guilty of crimes such as dual identities, misusing over 2.5 million Ghana cedis, and illegally drawing public funds.

Mr. Mohammed-Mustapha called on Ghanaians to support John Dramani Mahama as the next president and ignore the false narratives spread by Rev. Kusi Boateng. He accused Rev. Boateng of tarnishing the reputation of the Church and moral values. He also encouraged voters to reject the NPP for failing to deliver on their promises. Finally, he emphasized that the Bono East NDC is committed to winning more parliamentary seats and securing a resounding victory for Mahama on December 7, 2024.
