A major digital education project worth $100 million has launched at Awudome Secondary School (AWUSCO) in Awudome-Tsito, Ho West District. The initiative aims to improve teaching and learning in Senior High Schools (SHSs) across Ghana.

Led by the National Council of Parent-Teacher Associations (NCPTA) and Celltel Networks, the project will provide Android phones, tablets, and laptops to SHS students and teachers.

Parents can purchase these devices for their children using flexible payment options. Plans range from one to three years. Teachers, however, will benefit from a five-year repayment period.

Celltel Networks will also supply free internet connectivity to participating schools. This support will come at no cost to the NCPTA.

At the launch, NCPTA President Mr. Christian Aikins Atsu stated that the project supports the government’s goal of expanding digital education nationwide. He highlighted the council’s role in enhancing education quality by driving digital transformation in SHSs.

AWUSCO Headmaster, Mr. Courage Meteku, praised the initiative. He confirmed that the school already has internet access, allowing students and teachers to explore new digital resources.

Mr. Meteku expressed confidence that the program would raise academic performance and deepen digital literacy among students.
