Acting Chief Justice of Ghana, Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, has issued a directive to streamline the assignment and scheduling of new court cases and applications. The directive, issued on April 23, 2025, requires that all fresh filings be submitted to his office for processing.
The directive applies to the registrars of the High Courts, Courts of Appeal, and the Supreme Court. It mandates that cases or applications are brought to the Chief Justice’s attention for court assignments or the empanelling of judges when multiple courts are involved.
The directive also centralizes the scheduling of hearing dates. All court dates will now be set under the supervision of the Acting Chief Justice. This change replaces previous guidelines on court assignments and hearing schedules.
The directive will remain in effect until further notice. Registrars across the country are required to follow the new procedure.
