The National Investigation Bureau (NIB), in collaboration with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), has intercepted packages of stolen rice in Bono East. The goods, loaded on a Kia Rhino truck with registration number AS 9584-14, were seized in Techiman on Thursday, November 21, 2024.

A reliable source at the NIB confirmed the incident to the GNA, stating that the driver of the truck had been arrested, and investigations are ongoing. The source revealed that the rice was originally picked up from the storerooms of the Techiman Senior High School (TESS), a designated distribution center.

However, instead of delivering the goods to the intended recipient school, the driver diverted to Tuobodom, the capital of the Techiman North District. There, the stolen rice was offloaded onto two tricycles, popularly known as “Aboboyaa.”

During a visit to the Bono Regional NIB Command in Techiman, GNA reporters observed the seized Kia truck and the two tricycles loaded with the rice parked on the premises. Authorities are working to trace the accomplices involved in the diversion.

The NIB assures the public of its commitment to ensuring the safety and proper distribution of essential goods, particularly those meant for educational institutions..
