Nine people sustained injuries in a serious Kpong-Tema Highway accident involving two vehicles early Friday morning. The crash happened near Okwenya in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality.

According to reports, the vehicles involved were a Toyota Hiace with registration number GE-9739-24 and a Hyundai H100. Both vehicles suffered extensive damage after the collision.

Personnel from the Kpong Fire Station received a distress call at 7:29 a.m. and quickly dispatched a rescue team to the scene. The team arrived within minutes to assist with emergency operations and ensure public safety.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) confirmed that all nine victims had already been rescued and transported to the Akuse Government Hospital and St. Martins Hospital for treatment before the fire crew arrived.

The operation was a coordinated effort between the Somanya Ambulance Service, the Akuse Police, and the GNFS. Their swift response helped evacuate the victims and clear the road to restore traffic flow.

Authorities say the cause of the accident has not yet been established, but investigations are currently underway to determine what led to the crash.
